The Waco Silos Trolley system has officially been running for a year now and it will continue to do so.
According to the Waco Convention and Visitors Bureau, the trolley system has seen 171,000 riders in the last year, which is about 3,000 a week.
The people who use the trolley not only go to Magnolia but also typically go to other Waco shops and restaurants.
"One thing we see is the 'spillover effect' from Magnolia. So we've not only is visitation up at Magnolia year over year, but visitation is up at all of our attractions. So that's a neat aspect of it," Carla Pendergraft, Director of Marketing for the Waco Convention and Visitors Bureau, said.
To date, the city has seen 1.6 million visitors this year compared to 1.2 million at this time last year.
"We're up 400 thousand visitors year over year and I think this year we're going to end this year 2.7 million visitors to Waco. So yes, it's not your imagination. There's a lot of people out there!" Pendergraft said.
Pendergraft presented the latest data to the Waco City Council on Tuesday night. She said the city sees the value in keeping the trolley going.
