Thursday night, a Pitbull and Chihuahua were brought into Waco Humane Society after being rescued from a home in Mart.
Four people were arrested and charged with child endangerment after three children were found in the home covered in dog feces and had blistering sunburns.
The house appeared to have dog feces on the furniture, beds and floors.
Animal shelter director Luis Levya said the Pitbull has heartworm, which will need to be treated for about six months. Dogs get the disease after an infected mosquito bites a dog.
There is a 72-hour holding period for stray animals during which the owners can reclaim the pets.
If that doesn't happen, the Pitbull will be put up for adoption on Monday. The age of the Pitbull is estimated at 5 to 6 years old.
Also if there is not a reclaim, the 10-year-old Chihuahua will be sent to a rescue on Monday.
