The Navarro County Sheriff’s Office said that deputy, a trooper and a TxDOT worker saved an 81-year-old woman after she drove off the road in Ellis County.
Deputies said that the accident happened on FM 55 toward Avalon from State Highway 22 in Blooming Grove. Deputies received a call about the accident on Friday afternoon.
Deputy Ryan Gantt found the accident when he saw a hole in the fence along FM 55, next to a TxDOT vehicle.
Gantt saw the vehicle submerged in a stock pond, and the TxDOT worker was trying to pull the driver out.
Gantt immediately dove into the pond to rescue the driver. He recovered the woman, and as he was swimming back, a DPS trooper joined in on the rescue.
Officers at the scene immediately began CPR until medical personnel arrived minutes later.
